Another interesting and original site dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Bic company.

The site NeverEndingFriends represents a nice web-based application with stunning animation and interesting ideas. Unfortunately, the site is in Italian, so clicking on the links should be intuitive.

The preloader has been originally made – the percentage of load is drawn through a pen.

The site is full of beautiful animation, but the presence of more bright colors would make it even more effective.

The core idea of the site NeverEndingFriends is to create a postcard and send it off to friends on the wall on Facebook (if you entered the site through an account of the social network) or through e-mail, initially providing necessary data.

Recipients will see your greeting card in the form of images and links and after following the source the user will see the animated process of its creation.

All the sent cards are stored in the section Friends Wall, where the text of the card and the link to the profile (in Facebook) of the sender appear.

It is interesting to note that only a text may be inserted into the card. Everything else comes as standard. But the very process of writing the text is quite impressive.

The only disadvantage is the inability to write with cyrillic characters.

1. Extension for Google Chrome – Lightshot

This extension allows us to quickly capture the necessary parts of our screen (not only the interior of the browser, but all that is generally displayed at the moment), to save the captured shot or immediately load the extension into the external server and get a link for sending it.

2. Dropbox

This service is rather helpful as it enables you to share the folders among the participants and to see how the files are updated at the same time. This allows you to quickly show all the changes to your partners, and work on the layout one by one.
Besides it is very convenient to always have access to work projects, to be able to work in any place where you have a computer and internet, as well as always be sure of keeping the most valuable files secure from burning drives, viruses or power outages.

3. IconFinder

If you are constantly searching for icons for a particular situation and not always manage your time to draw something by your own, in this case you may visit the site http://iconfinder.com/where you may find a great variety of icons for every taste and color.

4. TeamViewer

Through this program you can always perform any operations on a computer which has this program installed, for example working at home on your office computer and at work on your own (home) computer.

In the Internet the success of any project partly depends on the domain name, and it is no wonder that the network is overwhelmed with services that offer to find a suitable name for you. But to think of the name is not enough! What matters is that the selected domain has not be taken! Currently there are about 50 million. com domains registered.

Here let us consider the four major things you should avoid when choosing a domain name:

1. Acronyms
If you rely on one of the three-letter combinations for your domain, then you can say goodbye to that dream. There are only 17,576 and they have already long been taken! Even if along with letters of the Latin language you consider the figures as well, the maximum number of combinations is 46 656, which are also taken!

You can count on success only if you are looking for a combination of not more than four characters.

2. love domains
One would hardly think that domains containing the word “love” are used in millions of different variations.

3. Proper names, name of fruits, cities, countries – all are taken!

4. Do not use the name of a famous company as a prefix. People love to bask in the glory of others. Therefore, these options cannot even be searched for.

And as a conclusion see below a couple of interesting facts:

1. It has been approved that the length of average domain is 11 characters

2. The longest domain includes 63 characters

3. If the first character in the domain name is a figure, it is likely to be 1

4. And if the first character is a letter, it is most likely to be letter S

Psykopaint (www.psykopaint.com) is another interesting site for online drawing, mostly being an online editor of ready-made images.

Through the online drawing service of Psykopaint you may turn any image or photo into an incredible example of artistic creativity.

A huge variety of all sorts of effects and the ability to create your own set it apart from the crowd of gray image editors arising really incredible feelings. Even without serious intentions, using this service is very pleasant and fun.

The work of developers is also worth appreciation, but not only they did a great job as the design and interface of this online drawing may be considered to be the peak of creativity! The original style, buttons, fonts, animation, effects. This is just brilliant! And though not all of us need this web service, contribution to the history of the Internet has surely been made by its creators.

The web application Psykopaint is based on Flash and is a perfect manifestation of the capacity of this platform.

Those who have been engaged in SEO for a long time probably noticed the change applied in Google algorithm which is now named Penguin and is aimed at getting rid of spam sites for search deliveries.

So let’s study the cases which may potentially be detected by the Penguin.

Rewriting. Sites full of rewriting will most likely not pass unnoticed by the Penguin. Moreover, if you have a lot of copy-paste, it is even scary to think what might happen.

Bad links. Sites containing low value backlinks, most likely, will be fined. Auto purchases – this is exactly what we’re talking about.

Satellites. Many budget satellite sites designed to promote a site may do harm rather than good. So try to avoid them.

Unnatural phrases. These are phrases like “ to buy mobile phones in Washington” inserted in the text to increase its “relevance” to the request. It turns out that Google considers this case as well. Even a point after the word “phone” is useless. By the way, reoptimization is considered to be one of the main reasons for applying sanctions.

Thoughtless sale of links. This also refers to telephones in Washington, which must either be sold or bought. Such links are also under the sight of the sound bird.

Abuse of advertising. The most awful thing is when you make a website for advertising. All have been done well, but that’s hard for users to find the thing for what they came to your site.

Statistic indicators of the site is the main tool enabling resource optimizer to make necessary adjustments to the strategy of site promotion and therefore to develop it more effectively. So let’s see hereunder how site statistics may be useful on this way.

1. First of all, the resource statistics make it possible to follow the dynamics of its development. The main indicator here is certainly the number of Internet users who visited the resource for a certain amount of time.

But it is also necessary to pay attention to the structure of search queries, which gives an opportunity to identify the effectiveness of the steps taken for site promotion or any of its pages on a particular request.

Thus, these statistics provide an opportunity to figure out whether the site needs additional optimization tools, whether it has the ability to effectively compete, whether the site content is well optimized and so on.

2. Site statistics may also indicate how targeted traffic makes the site attractive. In this case, you must pay attention to the behavioral characteristics of the project, such as number of pages that visitors browse, etc.

Pay attention to the dependence of the parameters as based on which inquiry visitors come to your site. This makes it possible to identify those pages that need further optimization to improve the behavioral characteristics of the resource.

3. In addition, site statistics can give an idea of an important factor in the functioning of the resource such as the characteristics of its target audience, that is those visitors who come to the project pages. For example, analysis of age structure of the target audience of the resource can result in revising its contents in case the site is unable to attract visitors of corresponding age it is targeted at.

4. Another important point statistics may tell about are traffic sources. For example, if the site is actively promoted in social networks, but the amount of traffic to its pages is rather small, it may indicate either the need for redeveloping strategies of social promotion, or the need for cessation of work on this method for site promotion.

The site is devoted to the release of the new version of this wonderful application from Rovio – Angry Birds Space.

The website space.angrybirds (http://space.angrybirds.com/launch/) enables to scroll through the contents, as if on a touch-input device. At the same time it has been implemented based on HTML5.

All of your journey through the site will be accompanied by an evil bird of the game which is considered to be an indicator of scrolling.

On the site Angry Birds Space you will find all the information about the game, starting from the places of purchase, to the trailer and videos with information about the main characters in the game.

It was early in 2005 when the term Web 2.0 came into use by web developers. Having replaced the “old” Web 1.0, Web 2.0 has become a new model of existence in the internet community, where a simple user becomes a direct participant and creator of the site content.

So let’s see what kind of design techniques are used most often in the development of sites in the style of Web 2.0.

Nothing superfluous. Simplicity is becoming the main priority in design making it easier to navigate and focusing the attention of the user.

Attention to the center. Now on the vast majority of sites most of the information is placed in the center of the screen allowing to see familiar place in any browser and simplifying the perception due to the visual lightness.

Limit to three columns. Here developers will have to meet the minimum number of columns, without cluttering the screen to the edges.

A single horizontal section at the top, separated from the rest of the content is rather essential being a major navigational reference.

Simple navigation. On each page of the site a clear, simple and large navigation menu appears. The same also applies to hyperlinks, which should be distinguished from the rest content on the page.

Of great importance are bright, memorable logo as well as original and clearly identifiable icons for the most important elements of the site.

Writing in capital. On sites in the style of Web 2.0 rather large font size is used. Large font size allows you to keep the site simple, whereas small fonts are perceived with difficulty, especially while scrolling fast or on LCD monitors in bright sunlight.

The design of Web 2.0 allows the use of titles and other text-insertions of very large size This is often implemented in the form of a graphical object making it easy to capture attention of users.

Bright colors. Green, muted orange, blue, pink are the bright juicy colors often used in the design of Web 2.0 to highlight important elements on the page.

3D-effects. Since a very small amount of photographic materials are used in Web 2.0, designers often use simple, pixel graphics, while the use of shadows, gradients, reflections, etc. helps to make the interface more realistic and pleasant for perception.

All that is new is always accepted with caution by users as well as by web developers. New ideas may be evaluated critically, especially if not all browsers are ready to accept the latest versions and standards, but on the other hand the effectiveness and attractiveness of innovations may be singled out. In any case, HTML5 and CSS3 technologies are developing not to have people lost in them, but in order to make the usability as comfortable as possible for developers and ordinary users.

HTML5 is the latest version of Hypertext Markup Language and it is not yet supported by all browsers. Full transition to HTML5 is scheduled for 2014, but a range of functions can already be added to your site.

In general, the idea of HTML5 is to divide the page into several smaller objects interacting with each other as one. It will also support audio and video pages. Once all browsers fully support this functional, this will certainly make the work with content in web pages much easier. The download speed will increase, and mobile application developers will use the general HTML5, without the need to optimize the code for each model.

The same is the case with CSS3 (Cascading Style Sheets). This standard is not supported by all browsers either, but it has already become rather popular. CSS3 allows to replace many of the JavaScript markers, but you need to use additional filters functional for IE. In addition, CSS3 allows you to make the page more attractive.

Once HTML5 and CSS3 are implemented, competition among sites will surely increase. But at the same time visiting web resources will become more comfortable and pleasant not only for developers, but first and foremost, for the visitors.

Since the advent of HTML5 programmers from around the world expressed their appreciation to it and embarked on the creation of beautiful and interesting games through it.

Lux Ahoy (luxahoy.com) is not the first game based on HTML 5, and not even the first about pirates created by this technology (the game Pirates Love Daisies already existed), but it is truly worth visiting.

Gameplay represents a fight between two pirate vessels on different maps. The one who first hits the enemy three times by gun on his/her own ship wins.

Currently only two levels of this wonderful game are available, but the “Coming Soon” notice on four other maps speaks about the imminent increase of levels.

Lux Ahoy comprises a funny model of devastation when environment comes under fire: sun, clouds, palm trees. They can also be used for bounce of your ball.

Being a game about pirates Lux Ahoy of course contains economic component and in this case it is represented in the form of gold as during the game gold is charged for destructions. Perhaps in the future it will mean something, but now it’s pretty useless.

The animation of the main characters is very funny especially during volley and victory.

Unfortunately, the game does not run in all browsers. As in all applications and websites based on HTML5 and associated technologies, Lux Ahoy should be run on Google Chrome.

Despite its simplicity it took a lot of effort for its creation and the fact that Lux Ahoy has been created on HTML5 cannot but impress. The game turned out to be very addictive and funny.
