How to Prepare Your Website for Indexing in Search Engines

Website indexing may play a very important role for acquiring a higher ranking in search engine results.

There are two groups of criteria upon which the position of links to the website in search engines depends on: textual (text content features) and non-textual (the link within pages is estimated). Textual criteria should be considered when creating the text and the site, while non-textual ones can be edited after laying out the site for indexation.

Titles may be of great importance for the site ranking among search results. Below are presented tips as how to choose a right title phrase:

  1. Each page of the site must have a unique, precise and clear title
  2. The title must correspond to the page content
  3. Words that frequently occur in search engine queries must be included into the titular phrase of the page
  4. Do not use too long title phrases (not more than 80 characters).

In addition, pay also special attention to the page description in conjunction with the titular phrase so as to guarantee a good promotion among search engines.

As for non-textual criteria, they may be referential-formulaic (e.g. algorithm of Google search engine), referential-textual (when the text of the link is indexed) and directory (e.g. Rambler’s algorithm of giving search results).

Since the query language of internet users is quite different from the language of the suggestions, it is important to know how users search for information in the net.

Thus, the site promotion may be implemented by the following steps:

  1. Studying the demand of internet users
  2. Creating texts that have been included into your site pages
  3. Making tests according to the rules of ranking
  4. Making page descriptions according to search engine queries
  5. Using non-textual criteria for placing the links
