Timelapse: Combined Project of Time and Google
Monday, June 17, 2013
World-renowned publication Time in partnership with Google has introduced a very unusual site. The full name of this interesting resource is Timelapse: Landsat Satellite Images of Climate Change.
Site offers to have a look at timelapse-video of climate changes and landscape that are generated on the basis of satellite images of the planet nearly three decades ago – from 1984 to 2012.
When opening a resource in the browser, several locations with the most noticeable changes are displayed. Particularly well noticeable is the difference closer to the North Pole. Be sure to see how the area around Las Vegas and the city itself have changed. On the site you can directly input your desired area, city, or simply scroll through the map, and the video will be generated “on the fly”.
Changes of climate and the surrounding area may be viewed almost anywhere on the planet. But unlike the previously prepared videos, you will have to wait until TimeLapse video is generated.
For proper operation of this site Google Chrome browser will be required.
